Joshua – Status Update

April 8, 2026

Where to start. While Natlaie is our squeeky wheel, Joshua is our quiet and compliant child. If we ask Natalie if we can leave and go to Joshua's room, the answer is generally no. If we ask Joshua if we can leave and go to Natalie's room. The answer is generally yes. This morning, I spent about 10 minutes in Joshua's room before work. He was mostly sleepy, but it was good to see him.

When I returned after work, Joshua was sitting in his chair watching TV. His oxygen was where I would expect. It looked like he was in the middle of a long boring day. Most of the attention was on Natalie today because of her tracheoscopy surgery.

We visited Joshua while Natalie was having her surgery. He was uncomfortable. The tube going in his nose was bothering him. He was receiving respiratory therapy and that was unpleasant.

After spending time with Natalie and settling her after the surgery, we went to Joshua's room to say good night. Low and behold his oxygen was dropping. He was in the high 80's and struggling to say there. This was after they pushed the oxygen to 100%. They called for the respiratory therapy and it seemed like forever to get him his treatment. They moved him from his chair to his bed. He received his treatment, and before we left, his oxygen level had climbed to a nice high number. While it was comfortable for us to go home, on the way home, both Sue and I spoke of the handwriting on the wall. We are both expecting the diffcult doctor conversation which says Joshua will also need a tracheoscopy.
